Asia

If Africa is the cradle of civilization, then Asia must be considered the birthplace of the agricultural products that would eventually feed the world. It is believed that systematic agriculture was born during the 10th millennium BC in Southwest Asia. During that time, people in Syria and Iraq domesticated the eight so-called “founder crops” (flax, three cereal grains, and four pulses, including lentils and chickpeas). Among the world’s first domesticated crops, these advancements formed the foundation of systematic agriculture that was adopted throughout Asia, North Africa, and eventually, Europe. Rice cultivation began in Asia’s Far East as early as 10,000 BC. Today, rice provides about one-fifth of all calories consumed by humans, with most of the world’s supply still grown in Asia.

Cheesy Italian Tortellini

Reviewed on Jan. 7, 2009 by ASERGEANTSWIFE
I enjoyed this recipe and give it a 5 star rating. The rest of my family wasn't as impressed. My complaint is it's too salty. Which is to be expected since the ingredients come out of cans. So, I think you could cut back the sodium by draining the tomatoes and then add 3 Tbsp to 1/4 cup. of water And use fresh mushrooms instead of canned. Or use fresh mushrooms and add 1-2 Tbsp. sugar.

Basic Crepes

Reviewed on Jan. 7, 2009 by JOSEPHINE
I made these this morning and was so glad I did. The only problem that I have is trying to copy the Swedish Crepes like IHOP. This filling are good though. FILLING: blueberry and sour cream filling, nutella filling with a dusting of powder sugar, and of course strawberry filling with a powdered sugar, cream cheese, milk, and vanilla extract filling.
